someone just tried to tell me that Jesus was a Christian. this was a response to me saying,”thank God Jesus wasn’t a Christian or i’d be prone to ignoring everything he ever said.”

they seriously could not wrap their mind around the fact that he was a devout and practicing Jew. that he was upset with the Jewish leadership for manipulating the scriptures for political gain. that they used the scriptures to enforce gender bias (the first disciple is an unnamed woman that was of ‘poor morals’). that he had no love for the governing system (Roman and Hebrew).

i am always amazed how little thought Christians give to what they say they believe and the content of the Bible. the Bible is amazing. Jesus is amazing. start to finish, the Judeo-Christian story is epic. literally epic, not internet epic. if all these ‘Christians’ have given their hearts to this then why is everything still fucked up?

the easy answer is to say that the story is a lie. Jesus didn’t exist. i tend to think something different. i think that it is truth. Jesus existed. the problem is that people want to filter everything. make it comfortable. bend it to their way of thinking. they do this and live a lie that they call truth.

i’ve met tons of ‘Christians’ in my life. i’ve met a handful of people that want to be like Jesus.

this song just played on my shuffle. i don’t remember how i got into this band. i was kid. i know they’re a christian band and the drummer was the guy behind Horde (black metal project). all that doesn’t matter. good music is good music. if you let ideologies get in the way of enjoying quality, you are a tool and should either end yourself or sit silently.
